Thought of the Day Project
Promoting a simple way to help elementary students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts.
Student-led, non-profit volunteer initiative.
What it is
Thought of the Day Project is a simple classroom practice where elementary students share one short thought of reflection in a supportive setting.
How it works
-
One student shares a short thought
-
Once a week, or whenever it fits
-
One to two minutes is enough
Why it matters
Small opportunities to speak can help elementary students:
-
Feel more comfortable using their voice
-
Organize their thoughts
Where this began
This project grew out of my own elementary school experience with Thought of the Day, where I first learned how meaningful it can be to share a simple idea out loud at a morning assembly.
Founded by Sara Tateshima, an 8th-grade student in Los Angeles, California
